Design Your Own Conference Experience

With economic development at a crossroads, SSTI's Annual Conference will re-examine every facet of the field. This year's conference will offer breakout sessions in four thematic tracks: strategic direction, universities in economic development, investment & capital and from theory to practice. Participate in the track that most suits your interest, or mix-and-match to create a unique conference experience.

Conference tracks include:

  • Strategic Direction — helping your organization refocus on the new fundamentals of supporting regional innovation and technology.
  • Universities in Economic Development — giving participants a refreshing perspective for maximizing the returns on university engagement in economic development.
  • Investment & Capital — pushing the TBED field to repurpose our existing resources, realign our economic development priorities to match opportunities and real needs, and renew how we work with all stakeholders who share vital interests in our regions' resilience, economic growth and sustained prosperity.
  • From Theory to Practice — reinvigorating you with fresh ideas, ranging from simple tweaks to major programmatic overhauls — all advice to help move your practice forward.

The track system allows attendees to look at regional economies holistically, a system of interdependent parts that must function together to achieve its potential, not as a group of independent entities. By attending the 2012 conference, you will gain the knowledge necessary to create a holistic regional economy that is capable of unleashing its potential.
