Share Your Region's Federal Laboratory Partnership Success Story
The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) announced that it is accepting submissions of success stories for its 2013 edition of Federal Laboratories & State and Local Governments: Partners for Technology Transfer Success — a publication highlighting outstanding partnerships between federal research laboratories and city, state or regional government entities across the country to support tech-based economic development. All content must be submitted by June 3 to be eligible for the 2013 edition.
National Interests Must Include Economic Development, According to Report
The Council on Competitiveness in partnership with Deloitte released Ignite 2.0: Voices of American University Presidents and National Lab Directors on Manufacturing Competiveness, the second installment of a three-part series on improving U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. According to the report, talent-driven innovation, education and advanced skills development coupled with research, science, technology and full life-cycle commercialization are the necessary drivers for a U.S. manufacturing resurgence.
NREL Launches STEP II
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) this week issued a solicitation for Phase II of its Sustainable Technology Partnerships (STEP) initiative. Phase I of STEP was created in 1994 as a pilot project.
STEP I offered states matching funds to gain access to NREL expertise. During phase I, 14 contracts totaling over $3 million were awarded. Projects focused on several technologies, including wind, biofuels, and alternative fuels.
