IT Florida Task Force Report 2000

The first annual report from ITFlorida encourages venture capital investments, creating research and development tax exemptions and establishing three new technology-based organizations. The report comes from the Information Service Technology Development Task Force created by state legislation last year to assess the health of Floridas information technology industry.

The Statewide Report on Ohio’s Readiness for Global Electronic Commerce uses 22 key indicators to measure the state’s performance and preparedness for an information economy against a set of national benchmarks established by the Computer Systems Policy Project in 1998. Ecom-Ohio found the overall infrastructure or backbone made the state one of the most connected in the country, yet 90 percent of the dial-up connections were not robust enough to support high bandwidth applications.

The Commerce Departments third annual report on the information technology (IT) revolution and its impact on the economy. The Department found that while IT industries only represent 8.3 percent of the U.S. economy, they accounted for approximately 30 percent of the countrys economic growth since 1995.
